Assetto Corsa is an excellent racing simulator with a great photomode. An abundance of community-created mods expand the life of this title and greatly widen the possibilities for creativity. These photos take me back to my days in high school taking photos in Gran Turismo 5, which effectively was the spark for my virtual photography hobby today.
I attempt to capture “the racing spirit” with these photos: driving a car to its absolute limits; the camaraderie between buddies driving on a track day; the intensity of a battle for a chance at the podium.

2021.11.01 – SUPRA ON SHUTOKU
This set involves more community-created mods: a Toyota GR Supra and the expansive Shutoko Expressway from the Shutoko Revival Project. This combo presents the grand touring coupe on the open highway—an expression of freedom and exploration.
2021.09.30 – COVER FEATURE
As I started to take more vertical photos, I got inspired to use these them in a design application. This cover uses the masthead I designed for my Motor Trend Cover Redesign.
2021.09.29 – NEW GEN TWINS
The modding community can be quick to release new cars. This set features the new twins from Toyota and Subaru: the 2022 GR 86 and the 2022 BRZ, respectively—my goal here was to take shots that could pass as manufacturer press shots.
2021.09.20 – BMW ADRIFT
This quick drift practice session in specially-prepped BMWs proved to be a good taste in the intricacies behind proper and smooth drift driving—something that I have yet to attain (still, it made for some good photo practice!).
2021.09.17 – A SIDE TRIP TO NURBURG, GERMANY
Our track day adventure continued on the famed Nurburgring Nordschliefe. Two American V8 brutes attacking this technical circuit made for a raucous time (with a few spins tossed in for good measure).
2021.09.16 – UNLIKELY PAIRINGS
A friend of mine joined me for this practice session on Italy's Imola Circuit. Car selection in this server was limited, so our selections ended up being unconventional, yet strangely matched, pairings.
Featured is the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale & Lotus Exige 240, and the Audi Sport Quattro S1 & BMW M3 Group A.
2021.09.10 – CARRERA, UNLEASHED
My efforts to tame this rear-engined, track-focused special led to a lot of tire smoke, but made some great stills set against the backdrops of Akina Lake.
2021.09.08 – TSUKUBA 5 LAP BATTLE
This image is inspired by the many races held on Tsukuba Circuit in the Japanese car program, Best Motoring. These races would often consist of contemporary Japanese sports cars being driven to the absolute limit by the country’s premier racing drivers, who were also the hosts of the program.

My first encounter with Assetto Corsa begins with this pairing of a Subaru Impreza 22B STi on Japan's famed Tsukuba Circuit.
