THE RIVER – ALBUM ART REDESIGN

Album artwork redesign for The River, by Jordan Feliz.

Project Brief: Design a set of album covers for a Christian recording artist.

I chose to redesign The River, by Jordan Feliz. These concepts feature river imagery to tie in with the album name and the imagery evoked in the track, “The River.” My designs incorporate Feliz’s personal branding to create album covers that lean in the direction of indie-style album artwork, which aims to appeal to younger listeners of the Contemporary Christian genre.

CONCEPT ONE

This concept focuses on the heavy contrast of the image, which signifies the ebbs and flows that one experiences in their life. The lightness can also represent the positivity that stems from the message of the music.

The geometric aspect is based around the shape of Jordan Feliz’s personal branding.

CONCEPT TWO

Continuing with the geometric theme, this design offers a brighter, more positive aesthetic that is driven by the complementary blue-orange color scheme and open imagery.

CONCEPT THREE

Feliz’s logo is emphasized through the geometric forms in this concept. The steps formed by the shapes can serve to represent the “ups and downs” in one’s life, again tying it in with the content of the album.

CONCEPT FOUR

This concept takes the geometric theme a touch further—a compass is formed from the square and circle, which references the spiritual themes (such as finding direction in one’s life) in Feliz’s music.
